Reason is that they don't understand reality of android.
Now in 2014, i prefer wp over android.
Btw, nokia x is a good phone at that price.
But lumia 520 is superior.

Could it not just reformat the phone and install an Android OS, just like a PC?

No, you can't (either 'just' install Android on a PC or install in on a Windows Phone device)

Definatly getting into teritory we can't discuss on here as any attempt to do so would void the warenty

The best place to ask would be some of the android developers forums, but I susspect that whilst it may be possible to do this if you have considerable coding knowledge, the results would be somewhat unsatisfactory with many of the phones hardware features becoming non operative

As the bootloader for Windows Phone is completely locked down (at least on Lumia phones) there is no way to do this.

I do wan to knw hw z win phne superior to android.

I hav Lumia 520 n it makes me crazy.I reset the phone about 15 days ago n I lost so many options in d settings like internet sharing.i don't get phone updates n cant even check wich os version my phone z currently using.its all lost due to reset.i dnt even get app updates.
